Sea Pines Resort (formerly Sea Pines Plantation) is not only the original well-planned gated community on Hilton Head, but it is the first of its kind anywhere. In 1950, Charles Fraser invented gated communities as they are known today.
Located on Hilton Head's far south end, Sea Pines is the largest of the island's ten major gated communities. It is a vast 5,000 acre retreat with several miles of direct ocean front. Each spring the annual Verizon Heritage PGA tournament is played here the week following Augusta National's Masters Tournament. There are 54 holes of world class golf in Sea Pines.
Harbour Town with the landmark lighthouse and upscale shopping welcomes guest from all over the world. They come by land and sea. The full-service marina has ample room to dock hundreds of pleasure boats including Greg Norman's 228 foot Aussie Rules yacht. Several dozen tennis courts and community pools await the rich and famous while miles and miles of bike paths provide ample room to roam.

South Beach Marina and the Salty Dog Cafe are Yankee favorites. The Salty Dog Cafe tee shirts are spotted up and down the east coast (mainly up).
